Pomelo Blossom Dancong is one of the classic aromatic types of Chaozhou single-bush oolong. It is named for its distinct fragrance reminiscent of pomelo blossoms and young pomelo leaves—fresh, clean, and quietly persistent. Among the Ten Aromas of Phoenix Dancong, You Hua Xiang is one of the most elegant and refreshing profiles.
Grown in the highlands of Chaozhou, Guangdong Province, at 800–1000 meters elevation, the tea develops a characteristic “mountain yun”—a layered clarity and sweetness shaped by rocky soil, mist, and slow leaf growth. The bushes belong to the Phoenix Shui Xian ecological group, selected as elite single plants over generations.
Hand-picked following the standard of one bud with three leaves, the tea is processed using traditional Chaozhou techniques: sun-withering, indoor withering, repeated shaking during the critical zuoqing stage, fixation, rolling, and slow drying. This controlled semi-oxidation builds the fresh pomelo-flower fragrance and enduring sweetness that define this tea.
The liquor is orange-yellow and bright. The aroma is high, clean, and persistent—clear pomelo blossom notes mixed with gentle fruit and floral layers. The taste is fresh, smooth, and sweet, with strong returning sweetness and a soft, cooling throat feel. It is less heavy than Mi Lan Xiang, less forceful than Huang Zhi Xiang, and stands out for its clarity and longevity.
Dry leaves are tight, glossy strips with a faint citrus-floral scent. Brewed leaves show the classic “green leaf with red edge” of well-fermented oolong.
