Origin: High mountain tea gardens at 800–1200m altitude on Mount Emei, Sichuan, China.
Appearance: Flat, smooth, pointed like bamboo shoots; tender green and glossy, covered with fine white down.
Aroma & Taste: Elegant chestnut-like aroma; liquor a clear, bright pale green. Fresh, mellow, and sweet on the palate with virtually no bitterness or astringency. Clean, sweet finish and lasting sweetness.
Cultural note: A thousand-year-old Zen tea. The Southern Song poet Lu You praised it: "The snow bud I just got from Emei is no less than the famous purple shoot tea from Guzhu."
Brewing suggestions: 80°C water, glass cup or porcelain gaiwan. Use 4g tea per 200ml water. No rinse. Steep for 1 minute. Can be infused 2–3 times.
