This is a rare wild-origin black tea from Tongmuguan, located inside the Wuyishan National Nature Reserve of Fujian Province. The tea is made from naturally growing, non-cultivated large-leaf local tea trees, harvested in 2012 and processed using the traditional method of Zhengshan Xiaozhong (正山小种) red tea production.
After more than a decade of quiet aging, the tea has developed a characteristic chen wei (陈味) — the mature, soft, settled aroma found in old red teas. Time has transformed the original fresh notes into deeper layers of sweetness, mild woodiness, and smooth aged fragrance.
The dry leaves are dark, long, and slightly twisted. The liquor is clear reddish-amber, with a gentle, rounded taste. The flavor is calm and steady: light dried-fruit sweetness, subtle resin tones, and a clean, persistent aftertaste typical of aged wild teas. Its structure is stable across multiple infusions, making it well suited for traditional gongfu-style brewing.
This is a limited batch — only 12.3 kilograms were produced from the original 2012 harvest.
